Character  Qualities  for  Leaders

 

 

 

Character:   To lead a ministry team, look for people who have vision (a clear and compelling view of where they are going and the difference they can make) and demonstrate growth in the following areas:

 

 

 INTEGRITY   shows consistency of character, belief, and action, eliciting and earning the confidence of others Prov 10:9 Col.2:10  Ps 26  Gen 39

 

· AUTHENTIC   shows their genuine self   Eph 6:5-8

· HONEST   expresses their true feelings and opinions

· TRUSTWORTHY   inspires trust 

· BLAMELESS   in the light of repentance, lives free of blame and guilt

· ABOVE  REPROACH   has a good reputation, walking in purity & avoiding the appearance of evil

· VULNERABLE   allows others to know self intimately and relies on their help to grow stronger

· IMPARTIAL   demonstrates a lack of favoritism or bias James 2:1

 

  TEACHABLE   desires to learn from others  Prov 9:8-9

 

· HUMBLE   sees and accepts who they really are before God  Phil.2:1-5; John 13:1-17

· LISTENS   strives to hear and understand   Prov.27:17,  Ps. 46:10

· FLEXIBLE   open to influence and adapts appropriately to the context  Jer.18:6

· OBEDIENT  TO  GOD   trusts the Father and submits to His will  Ps.119:4-5; James 4:17

· DESIRES  INPUT   seeks and values the contribution of others  Prov.11:14

· WISE   applies God's principles to daily life  Prov 2:9-11  James 1:5-7 James 3:13

 

  FAITHFUL   follows through on commitments and is an effective steward of

God's resources  Acts 2:42  Matt 25:14-30 1 Cor 4:17

 

· DISCIPLINED   evidences self-control  1 Cor 9:25-27 1 Peter 5:8

· COURAGEOUS   resolute in the face of fear Prov.28:1 Dt 31:6

· CONFIDENT   secure in who they are and where they are going  John 13:3-5 Rom 1:1-6

· PERSISTANT   shows patience, long-suffering, and does not give up or let go  Col.2:5

· STABLE   demonstrates constancy and steadfastness1 Cor.15:58

 

  LOVING   gives selflessly for the well-being of others  1 Cor 13:4-7

 

· SERVING   seeks opportunities to meet the needs of others  Mark 10:45  1 Pet. 4:10

· GRACIOUS   shows favor to others even when undeserved  Ex 34:6-7  2 Cor 1:11

· GENEROUS   gives liberally  2 Cor.9:6-7

· SENSITIVE   keenly aware of the feelings, needs, and circumstances of others
